Please keep this in mind:
1. When you plan to build a shelter there are many things that you should consider up front:
Think about the future, how is your situation and what are your plans for yourself?
Do you have land that you can use indefinite?
Are there people living close that might start complaining about dogs barking?
How will you pay for personnel, food, medical care?
Will there be enough people/volunteers that can help you long term?
Please be aware of the fact that we will not build a shelter for you!
Building a shelter is NOT the solution to the stray dog problem!
Your shelter will be packed with dogs within a couple of weeks.
A shelter is a minor part of the solution.
You will get a winning combination if you add education, responsible ownership and sterilization campaigns!
We can help you with planning and thinking on how to do everything and we have information on how to start!
2. When you plan to organise a sterilization project there are many things you need to arrange:
Involve the local municipality!
Get permission from the vet inspector?
Work together with local veterinarians?
Can you get enough volunteers to help you?
Is there a location suitable to perform the surgeries?
Are there funds for getting medical supplies?
Read all about the steps you need to take here!
3. When you plan to do a educational project in your region you are welcome to use ours!
We have excellent educational booklets, translated into Bosnian.
We also have a small helpful document which you can use when visiting the children.
